The systems quality and their high refrigerating capacity have been decisive for Sydney Transit Authority (STA) decision to entrust Hispacold the task of installing 100 units HVAC systens on their urban fleet. These vehicles will be manufactured by Custom Coaches in their New South Wales factory. The systems, model 12LS, count with a multiplexed system that allows their integration in the vehicle management system. As the tests have been passed successfully last summer, the supply will start immediately.
On the other hand, delivery of 150 units for Rapid KL, responsible for Kuala Lumpur urban transport, had taken place. At this moment, they are serving in one of the cities with one of the widest and most complex public transport networks around the world.
The city of Parma will see operating in its streets several trolleybuses also equipped with Hispacold HVAC systems. In this case the challenge was to create one new electric HVAC compact system, small-sized and able to be installed in vehicles that, due to their different dimensions, required systems with different cooling capacities. For this occasion two 24 kW equipments will be used.
The vehicle's special characteristics, with air ducts for air distribution placed in the middle of the vehicle, supposed additional difficulties. The first three units' bodyworks will be made by Van Hool, and they will be delivered along next year (2012).
