This standard, previously called the IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard), was created by UNIFE, the Union of the European Railway Industries. It is based on the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management standard, adding specific and much stricter requirements for the railway sector.
IRIS was created to improve competitiveness and
ensure high-quality standards, and aims for transport system requirements to
comply with various international standards and requirements. Suppliers that
provide solutions for operating installations and equipment for railway
operators must continuously ensure high quality levels. Obtaining this
certification brings with it international recognition, enhancing the
organization's prestige and image.
The new ISO/TS 22163 standard aims to further
develop the organizations’ quality management systems. It is focused on
continuous improvement and preventing non-conformities, includes specific
requirements and methods for railway sector clients, and prevents waste and
loss across the supply chain.
By obtaining this new certification, Hispacold once again proves its strong commitment to continuous improvement and high quality, as attested by its other certifications for its Management Systems, like the ISO 9001 for Quality, the ISO 14001 for Environment, the EN ISO 15085 for Welding, the OSHAS 18001 for Health and Safety, as well as the IRIS certification.
