Hispacold brings its expertise in rail HVAC with natural refrigerants to InnoTrans

The company will showcase its HVAC and BTMS solutions in Berlin, with a particular focus on natural refrigerants. Its participation in the trade fair coincides with a new phase marked by the opening of its new 36,000 m² production facility in the Zona Franca of Seville.

Hispacold will participate in InnoTrans 2026, taking place in Berlin from 22 to 25 September, where the company will showcase its HVAC and Battery Thermal Management System (BTMS) solutions for rail transport. Hispacold will be exhibiting in Hall 3.1, Stand 360, with a particular focus on itsexpertise in developing systems based on natural refrigerants.

Against the backdrop of the growing electrification of rail transport, Hispacold is developing solutions aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact, while meeting the demanding safety, reliability and passenger comfort requirements of the sector.

Solutions for different rail applications

At its stand, Hispacold will showcase three solutions: an HVAC system for passenger saloons in EMU, BEMU and regional trains; a Battery Thermal Management System (BTMS) for BEMU vehicles; and an HVAC system for passenger saloons in light rail vehicles based on R290.

The latter two solutions use R290, a natural refrigerant with low global warming potential (GWP) that is playing an increasingly important role in the decarbonisation of rail transport.

R290: a commitment to natural refrigerants

Hispacold has 20 years of experience in developing solutions based on natural and low-GWP refrigerants. This expertise enables the company to address the engineering and design challenges associated with this technology and develop equipment capable of meeting the high safety, performance and reliability standards required in rail transport.

Its solutions undergo validation under different climatic conditions to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation. This development and validation process enables Hispacold to continue moving towards more efficient and sustainable HVAC systems without compromising passenger comfort.

New facilities to strengthen industrial capacity

Hispacold's participation in InnoTrans 2026 coincides with a new industrial phase for the company. Hispacold has completed the relocation of all its operations to a new 36,000 m² production facility in the Zona Franca of Seville.

The new facilities enable the company to increase production capacity and optimise its industrial processes, while providing a more modern, efficient and sustainable working environment.

From this new facility, Hispacold develops and manufactures HVAC solutions for buses, coaches and rail vehicles, strengthening its capacity to support the company's growth and continue advancing innovation and technological development.
